Hotel review: Crowne Plaza – Gerrard’s Cross

When searching for a hotel at the last minute, it may be tempting to overlook major chains due to the assumption that they will be costly for late bookings. However, these chains can often offer competitive rates compared to so-called budget chains, especially if you participate in their loyalty programs.

This was evident during a recent trip. In need of accommodation near the M25/M40 area to the west of London, I discovered that the Crowne Plaza Gerrards Cross was available for a very reasonable rate of GBP52 plus some IHG points.

This substantial hotel is located just half a mile from Junction 2 of the M40 motorway. Complimentary parking is provided for guests, and the reception is easily accessible. Check-in was efficient, and I was directed to a room on the second floor.

Despite being informed online when booking that construction work was ongoing, the hotel was quiet as it was a Sunday. My room did not offer an impressive view, but for a single-night stay in winter, this was not a significant issue.

The room features a contemporary style with modern furniture. Consistent with Crowne Plaza’s status as one of IHG’s “luxury” brands, the bathroom amenities are provided by Antipodes.

In-room amenities include a refrigerator (without mini bar), towelled robes, an ironing board, and standard tea and coffee making facilities.

Overall, it is a typical Crowne Plaza in a convenient location. Hotel room with double bed
